Wings Book Review!
A while ago my friend lent me a book called Wings by Aprilynne Pike. At first I didn't think I would like it, since the main story is about Faeries-which aren't exactly my thing. But then, once I started reading it, and I loved it! I can't give you the back of the book like usual- My friend has it and I have yet to buy it- But I'll do my best to describe it!
Laurel is a seemingly ordinary girl who was homeschooled since she was in school. Then she moves from her small cabin-like home to another house closer to the city and is forced into the school. Then, one day, while they were cleaning up their old home for selling, Laurel came across a boy her age. He tells her of how she is a faerie sent to humans to protect the cabin from trolls- the faerie's eternal enemy- And has to decide who to trust and who not to trust.
To keep you interested, here's a clip of the book from the back of the book!
Laurel was mezmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beutiful--too beutiful for words.
Laurel turned to the mirror again, here eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
Now, I'm not really one for fairy-tales, nor am I one for gory books- But this is one of the few I actually like! This book is a series of four- three already released to the public and the last one has yet to be released, having the thrid book, Illusions, come out around March or May(I forgot).
This book gives you the love triangle, the action, AND even the fairy tale twist! I give it two thumbs-up and a smile.
